At my old job to be eligible for maternity leave, you have had to work there at least a year and had spent all of your sick and vacation time. I am not sure how your work goes though, becasue insurance itself kicks in within 6 months at most places. To supplement your leave, many employers make you go on short term disability, but you arent eligible for that either until you are eligible for insurance.

The best thing to do would be to ask your HR department or look through your employee handbook. Also, sign up for supplemental insurance such as Aflac to fully cover you when you are out on leave.

When i was pg with my youngest, there were two others who were pg and due the same time frame as I was. We all had our babies within two weeks. The last girl who had heres wasnt eligible for insurance yet so she had to come back to work for three weeks and then she went on leave (her baby was in the hospital for about a month from being premature). So it really depends!

It depends on the job really. My work is a minumum of 8 weeks. It will be tough but I'm sure you can hold out and in the end it's worth not paying the huge bill.
