Hmm its not overrated if you have insomnia. U havent mentioned how old you are but as we age we get less sleep and perhaps more sleep disturbances. I wish I could sleep continuously throughout the night instead of waking up all the time.

Sleep should comprise 1/3 of your day that is why physicians make such a big deal out of it. Without adequate sleep you can get all sorts of health problems. But some people worry about it too much, as far as i know different people have different sleep duration requirements, if you feel still feel like shi* after 7 ot 8 hours sleep then your sleep quality aint good. Still some people can get by with only 5 hours sleep every night and it dont effect them.

Without darkness our bodies cant produce melatonin the hormone which induces sleep . You may be sleeping with the TV or lights or computer on in your room this may interfere with this process, and in years to come you may end up with sleep distrurbances.

No, need at least 6 hrs. for the mind to rest. Rapid Eye Movement (REM) stage allows the mind to recover by reviewing daily events, retrospect on past events, fix problems subconsciously, and relives stress. REM also temporarily blocks certain body functions like body movement for muscle recovery. It's almost like restarting a slow computer. Get too much sleep deprivation and you can even start to hallucinate.

Aaaaahhhh!!!
I live to sleep.
I love to sleep.
I love the warmth.
The snuglliness of other bodies close. Oh bliss....
Drat dawn and all those crowding thoughts of things to do, that must be done, I want to do...
Oh well, sleep will wait for me again
until I crawl into those welcoming arms and dream a world
that is as I would design it
and drift in lovely ways I need not control
Goodnight!

Definately not, this is the restoritive time for your body and also your brain. When you dream, it's as if your brain is going out to play. I too wish we did not have to sleep so much as life in an awakened state is much more fun, but it is as necessary as breathing and eating to need sleep.

It's necessary and when you can't do it, then you pay the price.
I find it boring, too. I'd much rather be awake and doing things all the time, but when I don't get adequate sleep, I actually get very ill.

If anything, it's underrated. It bores me too, so I use a radio and TV that have timers so I can fall asleep with something on, but then it shuts off so I can get real sleep.
