I doubt she is faking it. Something being caused by stress is not the same as faking symptoms. Stress can cause many symptoms, but other, physical ailments should be ruled out first.

stress is real . this person vomiting and having a fever as well as stress is not something i would wonder about. if the woman has an elevated temperature then she has at least some fever.
stress can weaken the immune system and it can also help protect it. there is no reason this woman can not have both stress and vomit as a result of it and still have a fever that is due to other illness .
stress its self combined with some physical manifestations could cause a person to be hot just as hard labor does this
if you friend were to take the thermometer like children on the TV have done for years and heat it with something else sure you might come to think she has a fever when she does not.
i think that since her stress and around this new job is an illness
and doing something like heating the thermometer up is just a part of that same illness as is the vomiting . that problem in its self is enough . add to that problem some infection then its harder.
i think it is possible that a bit of an anxiety disorder has been with this woman since she was a girl its up to here if she wants to continue with it on her own or if she wants help. i would in
a calm respectful manner raise the possibility of this disorder with her sometime . then offer to be a friend regardless of her decision

Having once been a stress counselor, I know that stress can cause some people to vomit, or have diarrhea. I have never heard of someone getting a fever, although it might be possible. I would look further than her job, if the fever and vomiting continue.

Those symptoms are common to a large number of diagnoses. However, the fact there are two instances of it associated with new jobs may indicate job-related stress. I'm assuming that she has not had these symptoms during less stressful times? Fortunately, there are medications that will help control these stress, which her doctor may prescribe after an examination.
I would add one potential problem to look for. There is a mental illness called conversion disorder, that is associated quite often with new job stress and stress associated with perceiving oneself as failing in a job one already has. It can take many forms -- blindness, deafness, other disabilities, and physical illnesses. The victim is completely unaware that symptoms are not physiologically based. If this is the case, intense psychological treatment is called for to nip in the bud. For example, some go through their lives from the 20s on believing they are blind. In fact, they are blind -- even though there is no physical basis for it. They are not faking. That's another mental disorder.

Our mind is something we have not yet fully understood, and quite frankly we are just beginning to understand how our mind affects other parts of our body.
Some doctors are now admitting that certain kinds of cancer can be caused by our emotional state.
Stress is mental, and how our brain/mind sends messages to other parts of the body when it is under stress is fascinating.
I have been under stress lately. I get shakes, tremors, heart palpitations. A doctor explained to me this is the body, out of some primal instinct, defending itself because of the signals it receives from the brain.
He also explained to me that some people get other symptoms, which include vomiting and sometimes high fevers. No, your friend is not faking it, it is simply her body, receiving signals from her emotional brain, defending itself.

If she is a particularly anxious person then yes stress can bring on illness because it probably interferes with immune system perhaps. I have IBS now and then and that can be triggered off by stressful events like exams.
