This is the problem with focusing on "gaps" in the fossil records. When you fill in one gap, you have actually created two new ones; one before, and one after. We are never going to achieve a perfect fossil record, which is what I believe you're asking for. The probability that a dead animal will become a fossil is negligible.
I have no idea about the difference between Homo Habilis (I think you missed an 'i') and Homo Sapiens, but I don't think you'll accept anyone outside of Michael Behe's circle of friends as an authority.
Also, you don't have to be an Atheist to think Evolution works. You just have to be willing to consider that the Bible was not written for six year-olds.

This is a question for biologists, not atheists. I'm not an expert in evolution, and I'm not going to spend an hour digging up articles for you. I believe, however, that there were several species between habalis and sapiens, so that goes some way to explaining the 'gap' you're asking about.

There is no reason to defend it. The mere acknowledgment of him on your part is an acknowledgment that evolution occurs.
And I am no a biologist, but if memory servers that isn't a direct ancestor. I think the direct one was Hidelburg Man and Homo Ergaster then Habilis

Try looking up Homo heidelburgensis (the spelling may not be right, but close enough to get you a link)

I suspect that you would likely hold
Homosexuality as the basis of all evil
in this world. Granted that, lets go the whole nine yards as say, 'via Gay
sex.'

Got a minute? I'm not an atheist, but I can answer your question. On second thought, instead of a minute, we'll need about two million years.

Sorry, you would probably not understand since you seem to be confusing belief and science. You are asking a biology question in one of the mythology and folklore section.
How about this: He did it by wiggling His noodley appendages. That's an aswer apropriate to this section.

you could also ask, "how did the bacteria of the 1950's "become" the bacteria of the 1990's?"

"natural selection"
"evolution"
once you truly understand the theory of natural selection, it should be a snap.
that's the great thing about scientific theories that 99% of scientists accept. they explain a lot.

Why are you asking atheists? This is better suited for the Biology section, methinks.
