I've been wondering just this for several days now. Where did Cain get his wife? After looking on the web I found these answers: Cain married his own sister. Since Adam and Eve were "perfect", it was okay for people to commit incest and sleep with family members...based on that theory it would not cause birth defects and retardation. The other answer is that God didn't create only Adam and Eve. He created other people and Cain slept with one of these women. But wouldn't that throw the whole "everyone came from Adam and Eve" theory out the window. So no matter what answer is given...its gonna contradict something else.

If we now artwork completely from Scripture, with none own prejudices or different extra-biblical concepts, inspite of the indisputable fact that on the starting up, even as there change into really the first era, brothers might want to have had to have married sisters or there might want to be no extra generations! The Bible does not let us know what number little ones were born to Adam and Eve. inspite of the indisputable fact that, thinking their lengthy existence spans (Adam lived for 930 years—Genesis 5:5), it would want to look actual attempting to signify there have been many! keep in thoughts, They were commanded to “Be fruitful, and multiply” (Genesis a million:28). Many Christians can't answer the question about Cain's spouse because they concentration on present day global (and the topic matters linked with close relatives marrying), and do not comprehend the sparkling historic record God has given to us. they conflict to interpret Genesis from our present challenge, quite than comprehend the real biblical historic previous of the global and the transformations which have handed off because of sin.

Iv'e read about that theory and you could look it up on the net via use of a search engine.
As I recall it was not offered from an Atheistic view point either.
How come coming from a religious source this second creation story from Genesis is a believable theory for you , but to Creationists in general Evolution is labled," just a theory"?

There is no explanation as to how Cain got his wife -- unless you want to look at the location in which the Garden of Eden was created -- it was created in the East. Now there isn't any writings as to what God was doing in the North, South, and West. And if Adam and Eve and their family where supposedly the only humans on earth. For all we know God could have been creating in all 4 directions at the same time --which She probably was. She could have place another heterosexual couple in the West; Sue and Sarah may have been hanging out together in the North, and Jim and Jack could have been kicking it in the South. I know the thought of that for some Christians is revolting -- but hey I don't place God in a box. Because with God "all things are possible."

Well, there has to be two creations and maybe even more. how else can you explain the dinosaurs that lived and died way before man came to be and that is the only logical explaination of where the people that Cain was afraid of came from.

There are two different creation stories in Genesis. I studied them both in a class I took. They can both be read in Genesis.
There are two thoughts on Cain's wife. One says that G-d had also put others on the earth. The other says that it was one of his sisters. Adam and Eve did have other children. And, then, there was no stigma on families reproducing with their own.

Yes indeed I have noticed this too. Most do not until it is pointed out to them. Just because we see what we expect to see and never look deeper until someone else points it out. I do not take the bible as literal and therefore this does not bother me. Go to the site www.caw.org and then into the link for the Green Egg and articles and read the article Who are the Other People. If nothing else it will give you laugh. I am from the Other People myself!

Genesis indeed gives two accounts of the creation of man: a Jawist story and an Elohist story. Chapter one gives one version, and Chapter two tells of the creation of the Garden of Eden and Adam and Eve. The compiler of Genesis drew on different sources for these accounts.

I asked this question 18 years ago. God don't put everything in the Bible. Eve had more children that we don't get told about. The children at that time could marry each other. But the farther we get away from the garden of Eden. The more sin prevails. He married his own family member.

In the bible in the book of Genesis God said let us make man after our likeness. It says nothing about only one man and one woman were made. Adam and Eve were the first to live in the garden of Eden.,But not the only man and only woman.
