I'm sorry, I'm a guy that lived with agnostic parents and have no idea what to wear to a mass.

It is hard to know without knowing what the demographics of the particular church are. You could fit rigfht in wearing blue jeans or you could be way underdressed. The same goes with a suit and a tie.

Go for the middle of the road. Wear dress slacls and a button down shirt with a tie folded and put in your pocket. if you notice people very conservatively dressed, duck into the bathroom and put the tie on.

How would you think you should dress if you might be in the presence of the Spirit of the Lord--flipflops, bermuda shorts, and grungy T-shirt?

I'd recommend wearing the best and cleanly pressed clothing you have to church. A coat and tie with matching slacks and shined footgear should be the norm in any Sunday church gathering. I'm not Catholic, however, and do not know what is the norm for Catholics and the appropriate clothing they wear.

Given your circumstances I respect your desire to begin to attend church. Consider calling the local church you will attend and ask the receptionist or cleric your question.

Many italian church homes will make you place on a headband around you in case you have bare shoulders or are wearing something too short. in case you will Mass on Palm Sunday, why could you place on shorts and a tank ultimate besides? Do you place on that on your church back domicile? you truly do no longer desire a headband or long skirt, yet a minimum of teach some admire

You will need to check on what that particular congregation wears. I know of one that dresses up (suit, tie-the works). I know of another one where jeans and a polo shirt will do.

I think if you wear dress pants, and a sport shirt (with long sleeves and in the style of a dress shirt), you should be find. It will mix in anywhere, no matter what people have on.

I don't think that what you wear matters too terribly much. I would avoid clothing that makes an antagonistic statement or is physically dirty. Remember that the point of the mass is to lead the participants to contemplate and experience the mystery and majesty of God.

The best and most expensive and flashy clothes you can get.

Try also to borrow and outrageously expensive watch. Fancy sunglasses, shiny shoes, ideally made with lizard skin.
The idea is to impress and show off in front of the others.

This totally depends on the church, a good idea would be to ask somebody who goes to the same church you're planning to attend, or if you don't know anybody, drive by when it lets out and observe. Some churches are Sunday best and some are casual.

You do not show off and impress in front of others. Wear whatever you want because God said "Come as you are". Many people don't follow this but you do what you want.

Wear your "sunday best." Dress not to impress others but to show God why you're there. He's the one doing the judging on judgement day (or rather Jesus since God delegated that).

Peace!
Casual, semi-formal it is all up to you. As long as it is in good taste. Some parishes have dress codes so it might be a good idea to check.
