Your Flock of Twelve Geese Are a lot of gooses . Geese usually squawk when they are discontent, when they sense danger , or when it is near or in the mating season. You have five males that are competing for the females ,when you add all these factors together you get Squawking.

My best guess would be that something is startling them. Geese usually sleep at night because most birds don't have very good night vision.

Clammy is right, they are also used on some military installations. Guess theyare a lot more accurate than a million dollar alarm system in some instances.

I do think that there's a predator or a thief eyeing for them at night.
