Here is a good place and they have many around Porland Oregon and Washington State. Look at the hotel sections for where you want to be. I stayed here:

Check out www.craigslist.org and then look in Vacation rentals in Portland. A lot of people have places for rent in this area, you could also do a swap with someone if you can find someone who would want to visit your town at the same time. If you want a fairly inexpensive but full of character and uniqueness, I would also suggest the McMenamins (www.mcmenamins.com) There are several in the Portland area. McMenamins takes old schools, churches, plantations and turns them into these awesome venues where there make them into hotels, restaurants, movie theaters and bars. Some have private baths for the rooms, others have baths in the hall and you have to share. Check out their website, it has lots of pictures.

Good luck!

go to hotels.com or expedia.com or orbitz.com to find hotels in Portland, the best area if you are looking for reasonable price and close to downtown would be the loyd center area, it is just across the bridge from downtown and right by a shopping mall. All you have to do is hop the max wich is a train and it will take you downtown to the city wich is a free ride on the train between loyd center and downtown, otherwise in downtown you are looking at around 300.00 or more a night for a hotel room. You are going at a good time when it won't be raining as much.

There is a great hostel on S.E. Hawthorne (about 30th ave), the area is quite eclectic in nature, with plenty of places to dine, hang out etc.
