i am having a genuine windows xp sp3. now i want to format it again. if i shall format and reload the same wnidows xp sp3. then i shall be getting a invalid genuine key....is it true????? then how to format...or it is not possible to format a genuine windows.??
cos if i can format in this pc...i can format in others too..
wat shud i do..???

You can reformat it. Just make sure you have the product key code. If you've already used the code over the microsoft limits you have to call them, they will give you a new product key or a special code when you re-activate windows. Unless it is an illegal copy, then no you cannot do it.

That software code matches with the Hardware CPU code. You are permitted to re-install Microsoft Windows on the same machine it was installed on originally. That is the law. You do not own that copy of Windows, you never did. That is also the law.
Look at the Linux downloads since October when Ubuntu was stable. How many copies of Ubuntu Linux can own, as many as you want. How many can you change, as many as you want, How many are you allowed to put on your son and wifes PC, as many as you want.
Do that twice with Windows and you can go to jail as a Felon Thief. That is the law.
I like windows, its a very fun OS, I do not like that Windows places restrictions and limits on learning.

sp3??? Why do you want to format? That is big project and can usually be avoided. Windows can be reinstalled without formating the hard drive, and viruses can be removed.
