I'm a sophomore robotics student, but study nothing about robot yet ( I guess it's for 3rd year ^_^ ). I want to start doing something now, where should I start?

Check the Internet. There are many websites that offer small or inexpensive robotics kits, mostly for hobbyists but these are great places start learning. You will learn about motion, dynamics (mass plus inertia plus motion), positioning, etc.

Here's an interesting source, "Robotics Online". It's an industry journal for robotics:

If you would like to do some experimentation, and have some fun, pick up a radio-control set. You can use the servos to drive arms which you can fashion out of toys (Meccano-type sets or Lego Technic, perhaps). As well as being fun, this gives you practice with issues like reliable design and good construction technique.

If you do use the radio control set to drive servos, keep this in mind: ALWAYS turn on the receiver BEFORE the transmitter. The receiver will tell you if someone is using the same frequency (by moving spontaneously).

I read Nuts & Volts magazine.
I think Parallax has a lot of easy kits for beginners and they explain how things work in robits and other actuators with microprocessors. Try their we site (below)
