Been with her for 4 years now, we own a house together and it's about time I made an honest woman of her. She's 25 and I'm 29. I need a romantic, yet cool and original way of doing this.

Put ring in ice cube, offer her a cold glass of champagne, & the rest is history.

Congratulations!!! Well, atleast you made a good first decision! I also suggest that you write down everything you want to say. Winging it when you are nervous will only end up makeing you look stupid. Also, think of all the things she likes and try to work around that. If she likes being around people, then you should defenatly go public...like if she has a favorite sports team or a favorite resaturant. Maybe if you have an ice skateing rink or something near you. If she finds it more romatic when you are alone, then do it that way. And of course, if she loves being around her family then you should propose in front of them. Maybe if you still arent sure, ask one of her friends that you trust not to say anything... maybe she said somethings to them about what she would like. If you've been together that long, she has probably already talked to her friends about it anyways! One thing I always thought was romantic was to get a book of love poems and open it to a poem that you like the most. Glue the other pages together so when she opens the book it will turn right to the page. Cut a square out off the pages next to it and put the jewelry box in there. Wrap the box and give it to her as a gift and when she opens the book drop to one knee! Good Luck!

I saw the most romantic proposal ever when I was on holiday last year. We were watching the firework display standing by Cinderella's castle in the Magic Kingdom, Florida. It starts by Tinkerbelle flying down saying "dreams really do come true as long as you believe" and a man in front of me grabbed his girlfriend and said "I do believe so please make my dreams come true" and put a ring on her finger, just as all the fireworks started.

It was really, really romatic and apparently the young lady hadn't any idea at all. The boy had asked me to take a photograph of them, which I did, just as he put the ring on her finger.

You may not be able to afford Florida, but there is always Paris Disney, but for it to be really magical it has to be after dark.

I am sure whatever and wherever you propose, your girlfriend will think it's magic and romantic. Good luck to you both

the best way to propose is to go shopping with your girlfriend(i dont know asda, sainsburys or something) and get the woman on infomation desk to announce something over the microphone. I did it and when she said yes we got a free bottle of champagne from morrisons. its alot better than the romantic meal, message on score board, etc. its different cheap and you can always book a table for in the evening for when youve finished your shopping and have had sex and all that. I know its tacky but she'll never think you were going to propose and not a lot of people do it in a supermarket.

Firstly - congratulations!

To me, what you say to her is the most important, so start by writing down all the things you want to say to her. That is what makes it really special (and will probably make her all teary!)

Then think about what her favourite things are to do and try to plan it around that. Maybe you could take her on a hot air balloon ride with champagne etc. Or you could have a meal with your friends and family and propose to her in front of all the people you care about and let them share it?

Maybe you could take her on a midnight picnic and spell the words out with candles (suggestion stolen from Eastenders!) as that is romantic and really pretty.

Good luck!

This may not be the best way to propose...but this is how my husband did it!
We went to Alton Towers for my 21st Birthday. We stayed in the hotel and went on loads of rides. Then on my birthday we walked around the gorgeous gardens there and came to a beautiful white hut type thing, while i was talking to the rest of my family(my back was turned away from him) he got down on one knee. Then i turned back round to see him with a nice white gold diamond ring in a box. Then he just asked Will You Marry Me?

The rest is history, we have been married over a year and have our first child.

Good luck on whatever you decide to do!

Here is a great idea, if you are going to give her a bling along with the propsal.
My freind at christmas received a dvd for christmas from her boy freind about hearts on fire ,a dvd about diamonds of quality after the dvd was over he went to his jacket and came out with a small box containing a ring at wich point he proposed. This was done infront of family it was very romantic and exiting no one knew what was going on.

Plan a vacation. Go to a nice inland resort(overlooking the sea or mountain for you two to relax), arrange a dinner date with candles and music-dont spend a lot coz there are still other ways to do this.SEEK help from close friends. It is much better if it comes as a surprises.Dont forget the ring...it diesnt have to be expensive.

Congratulations! She is a lucky lady to have such a thoughtful man. I suggest you propose when she least expects it. First, make a huge banner telling her you love her and ask her on the banner. Next, find a place to display it. Maybe on her car while she is at work? You can place it on the windshield and be there (where she can't see you) when she come out. She'll see it and cover her mouth in joy. Then you come out of hiding, get down on one knee, and ask her. Good luck and best wishes!

A good way to propose, is to sprinkle red rose petals from the door, up the stairs, to the bedroom, then on the bed make a shape of a love heart!
