piping set how do i use it?

i ve been brought a piping set for xmas.and i dont know what to put in the piper to use it?how do i make the icing to use it.as im making a cake now. help???

What I would do is first find a recipe for easy cake icing. Recipezaar has some good recipes. Once you make the icing, load it into the bag or cylinder (make sure you have the right tip on first)then either twist the bag or push the plunger to get the icing to get to the tip. Practice a bit on a clean cookie sheet(use one that doesn't have that nonstick coating if you can) to get the hang of handling the piper. Once you get the hang of it you can put the icing back into the piper and start decorating your cake.
