I plan to be the forward one but, will I scare him off? I know he wants to be with me. Just like I want to be with him. I feel he's not serious enough. He had a past relationship awhile ago. Maybe he's insecure. Don't want to scare him off. Both over 30.

I would suggest to answer all these doubts and questions about him by communicating with him.
dont stick to the traditions of the past. There is no reason to wait for him to invite you out. Be the one forward. This would attract me more if a woman does it to me. She will look more smart and strong and there i can feel like i will learn from her.
So be the one whom he can learn from. Go with your heart.
Good Luck

If he is not forward enough for you now, what makes you think that is going to change? If you want a man who takes charge, this won't be the one. If he cannot get the courage/initiative to ask out a woman, there are going to be lots of other things he won't have the initiative to do. You need to decide how you will feel about that down the road--is it something you can tolerate, or is it something that will drive you nuts.

Or maybe he is just not that into you.

If he's nor forward enough for you now, he won't be forward enough for you in the future. If, on the other hand, you can handle being the leader, you'll just have to find out if your approach will scare him off. There is no way to answer the question without action. Git 'er done, girl.

If you're both over 30 then you shouldn't scare him off by telling him how you feel. Its possible he doesn't know how you feel about him. How do you know he "loves" you has he said it? Men aren't mind readers. People need to learn to communicate you just can't assume anything. Best thing to do is talk to him.
