For some reason lately I can't stay asleep for long under stress. I had a job interview at 11:00 AM a few days ago, woke up for something about 5:00AM and couldn't go BACK to sleep. I am ready to give up! It's so frustrating

Brian, it sounds as if you have a lot on your mind and your subconsious keeps going while you are trying to rest.

I have a few suggestions for you to help you get a good night sleep.
*Don't drink alcohol. It truly does disrupt your normal sleep patterns.
*Excercise EARLY in the evening.
*Don't eat at least 4 hours before you go to bed.
*Take a hot relaxing shower or bath before bed.
*Don't watch tv in bed, instead read a book until you get so tired you can't stay awake.
*Have clean fresh sheets.
**It is okay to take tylenol pm every now and again - but for me, it makes me groggy in the morning**

I hope you get a good nights sleep soon and that your stress goes away too.

There's been a lot of people having trouble sleeping recently. Holiday stressers, media, returning to work after long vacations. Try staying awake for 24-48 hours when you have the time, your mind needs to reset with the body.

There is a prescription drug called Lunesta that's supposed to help one get a full night sleep. This shouldn't be your first solution, but if all else fails, you may want to consider it.
