Why can't people have peace and harmony in the world?

Its sad to know that there is bloodshed everywhere! We kill each other just for the sake of being superior. But why can't we unite as one and live in peace??

Because humans are competitive. We form groups and the groups compete. This has some good and bad effects.

You could get more peace and harmony if you get rid of group dissent that's not really based on anything real, such as with religion. Religion causes much intolerance and disharmony because it actually promotes this natural "in-group" thinking. They tend to paint everything in terms of black and white, and judge all outsiders to be against them. Even the most tolerant of religions teach their members how superior they are over others. Their tolerance tends to extend to the point at which they think they might be able to convert someone. Past that, their "love thy enemy" changes to "don't throw pearls before swine".

A part from God there is no true lasting peace. The heart of man has a natural inclination to be self-centered, holding grudges, wanting vengance, etc etc
The heart of man leans toward evil without the power of the spirit of God to cleanse it. There can never be total peace on earth. We will only experience that peace in heaven.

Satan will not allow it. Until he is put in the pit. We will never have peace. Jesus needs to come back to have peace. Pride gets in the way for the bloodshed. Satan was prideful when he wanted to take over God. He brought it down here to earth.

because it would be a total bore yes it is a shame of the bloodshed every were but come on come back from the clouds and get to the real world no one is perfect and we all have our own personalities and if our personality is to conquer the world then so be it

See "Hatreds Kingdom" by Dore Gold. Culture Warrior by Bill OReilly is also good. Most of us are lucky to have peace in our own familiy or community. I predict it is only going to get worse before it gets worse. Too many people fighting over limited resources, or fanatical intolerant ideologies.

As long as people differ from one another there will constantly be war. There is always a group that believes they are superior than another and that seeks to convert the inferior group. In my opinion the main agitator is religion. As long as people are free to decide whom or what to worship there will be strife.

Human nature prevents this. People are naturally sinful. They lust, covet, and strike out in anger. There will always be people to take advantage for themselves. That is why on paper Communism was a utopia but in real life it became a nightmare.
