well, just a couple of weeks ago, two mormon elders/brothers came to our house preaching the "good news." so they were telling me that they were there to share the wisdom that they have learned. i mean, it ain't that bad. then they gave me the book of mormon to read. so i thought that's something new.

do you entertain them?

Did that couple times. Probably that was out of respect for people who mean what they say, and say what they mean. Can't bring myself to share their views, though, but they definitely mean less harm than a good many wild preachers out there. Nothing wrong in saying what they think is true, without resorting to cut a man's throat if he doesn't share their feelings.

once I had a couple of mormons knock on the door, and try to preach to me. I said that i was not interested in being converted, but would they like to come around for dinner some time.

They did, and we had a really good time. It turned out they were quite isolated and really appreciated the friendship.

I think it was a very good outcome for what can sometimes be quite an uncomfortable situation.

Sure, although their requirements for "elders" are hilariously lax since their usually about 20 years old. It would make a lot more sense to call these preachers "deacons" (the original Greek for "deacon" just means "minister" anyway).

A couple handed me a copy of the Book of Mormon, I thanked them and presented them both with a copy of Tail magazine. They never came back.

im one of the least religious people you will ever meet, however a few of my best friends are Elders. they came to my apartment a few years ago, and i let them in, simply because i was too tired to argue, and i wound up becoming friends with them. well, as friendly as you can be with elders, they cant hang out with women without supervision. But they turned out to be great guys, they accepted that i wasnt interested in their views on religion, but unlike some, didnt push me away and state they were going to pray for me... I heart my Elders. ;)

Yes, I have talked to them a few times. They are very clean cut and nice. I wish they would send out a few Mormon Sisters. I am sure they would be very nice too. I have checked the basis for their doctrine. Well......... I will let you do that for yourself. If you wish.

nope, fortunately, my apartment has a lobby where you have to ring a bell before I let you in, so I dont' have that problem, even if I did. I wouldn't entertain them, I don't entertain Jehovah witnesses so why mormon brothers

It has been decades since I have seen an LDS going door to door in my neighborhood.

We rarely get a Jehovah's Witness anymore.

I suspect it has to do with door to door canvassers having to be permitted by the city.

I am not a Mormon any more, but I still do the same thing I have done for years. Listen to them and share experiences. They come in peace, not selling anything, as others do.

I wish all religions would put their children to practice their faith in such a peaceful way.
