If I drank Lipton 100% natural tea twice a day will my metabolism go up? Also if I had 3-4 servings of carrots a day will that increase my metabolism also? I heard both of them do but I just want to make sure, and if its' true by how much will it increase?

((During school I can't eat a snack inbetween breakfast and lunch.)) and note this is just an example.

Don't worry about what the scale says! As long as you are healthy that is all that matters. People are too hung up on looks and there is a lot of pressure placed on women. Plus, the BMI analyzer on the scale needs the settings adjusted for gender, height, etc. and is not a very accurate indicator of body mass index anyway. It even fluctuates from morning to evening depending on your hydration level.

Just be happy with yourself.

You seem underweight actually. The weight height ratio calls for 100 pounds for 5 feet and an additional five pounds for each additional inch. So, at 5'4" you should actually weight at least 120 pounds. It's sad that some women have the misconception that they have to be thin to look good.

Having low body fat can be bad for women. Even more harmful during puberty. At least 15% body fat is required for ovulation and proper development.

Female body fat is genetically higher than male body fat and gives women better stamina and endurance. And anyway, fat accumulation around the buttocks, breasts, hips, legs and calfs makes women more attractive.

Keep up the good work. 30 minutes of cardiovascular activies like jogging followed by anaerobic weight lifting just like you've been doing should keep you in tip top shape. You are already a winner. The discipline to excercise each day makes you great.

Dizzy and fainting spells are an indication of a problem and is just not worth it. Train don't strain. If you need any help talk to your parents. Communication really helps. Now, I don't mean to sound preachy; just trying to offer some good advise. AND, TO ALL THE LADIES OUT THERE: YOU ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL! BE HAPPY WITH WHO YOU ARE.

This is how I work on my fitness Mon-Fri 6-9pm around the neighborhood and in my weight room:
1 hr jog: warm up walk 2.5 miles (45 min) Jog 2.5 miles (15 min.)
15 min. recumbent stationary bike with moving handles
15 min 1,000 crunches contracting abs only about 2"
10 min 600 oblique crunches left and right
1 hr. Weight lifting circuit training

End result of hard work: improved lung capacity, more oxygen to the brain, more REM sleep, more energy, 10% body fat(Kind of low even for a male, but I know it's not great; just not going lower), resting heart rate 45 b/m, calmer and nicer to others.

Yeah, it takes a while but I enjoy doing it. I'm not incredibly buff, but am lean and exercise for cheer joy not social pressure.

I am 5' 6" and 120 lbs, we have the *same* BMI, that is, 19.4

The problem is not in the weight! The problem IS in the body fat though. You need to lose FAT and put up MUSCLE, possibly even gaining weight.

In order to lose fat you need to do some cardio, targeting 70-75% of your maximum heartbeat.

In order to put on muscle you do need weight lifting, like you have been doing. Save that IT WILL NOT WORK IF YOU DON'T EAT PROTEINS. Also, you need to REST between weight lifting sessions, or you won't put on muscle!

Finally, you are starving your body... which is why your fat percentage is so high even though you are already exercising. You should be around 20-22% instead. But since you eat not enough calories and not enough proteins, your body actually *retains* fat.

So keep on doing weights twice a week, add 2 days of cardio and start eating lean proteins (poultry, low fat dairy, legumes, fish).

Good luck!

Ok, judging by what you say, I regret to infrom you that you dont really know effective weight training uf you havent improved in 4 MONTHS!

Also, by raising metabolism I'm guessing you mean so that your body burns the calories on its own huh? Sorry hun, but the calories arent going to go away like that, its genetic and what you are eating with lipton mught help with antioxidants

I reccomend a colon detox, you can lose up to 40 pounds that way and at the least its an instant 5 pounds off and a lot of years added to your life.

Also becuase your weight training is showing no results, I reccomend you read what i did to lose 70 pounds, its tought me everything i know even though it looks cheesy.

Foods with high nutritional value help raise your metabolic rate, but not significant enough to lose much weight.

There are several things which raise the metabolic rate:

Do not skip any meals

Exercise daily

Build your muscles

Avoid alcohol, sugar, and fastings

Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily.

Tea is a stimulant. It may increase the metabolic rate by making people 'up on their feet' but may not burn the
calories taken in excess of the daily requirement. I haven't heard or read of carrots affecting the metabolic rate in any way.
Exercise is a better metabolic rate 'booster' that burns large amount of calories!

i think green tea would probably be better for you. The best way to increase your metabolism is to excersise. If you plam on only eating carrot and drinking tea, your metabolism will slow down and you'll most likely only feel lethargic!!

you are at 113 lbs and 5'4"? surely you are not asking this for weight loss????? At your age you should be more worried about eating a healthy diet and not smoking, getting normal exercise.......don't let this weight thing get out of hand or you could end up with a life long problem and end up in a hospital

not very much at all but it would improve. id recimend exercising every morning and drinking ice cold water as your body has to use energy to heat it back to body temperture.
