Mere chatting is no problem. But if you go beyond that, it may not be a happy ending. There have been umpteen number of cases when friends by internet chatting have suffered beyond imagination. Some have even been killed.

I have a friend who met her boyfriend on internet. It depends on the reason why do you prefer meeting people on internet. If it is because you do not have the time to socialize, I do not see a problem. However, if it is because you want to hide behind the screen, then I would seriously consider trying to be a little bit more brave and meet them socially. It is a good practise to be socially open.

before you ever meet the guy through online dating talk to him online a few times then talk to him on the phone and then meet up if you think he is your kinda person. i would suggest asking a lot of questions about himself
