It is totally normal for him to not be ready to be dry all night yet. Some kids don't achieve consistent night time dryness until they are 9 or 10 years old.....and that's still considered normal! It's going to take some patience.

Make sure he goes to the bathroom right before bed. Consider limiting fluids in the hour or so before bed. Keep him in pull ups at night. Make sure you have a plastic sheet under his regular bedding to protect the mattress.

Buy some Good-nites underpants. They will give him protection against wetness and not make him feel as though he is wearing a diaper again---which could cause regression. Also, do not let him drink anything an hour before he goes to bed. You may also want to wake him up a couple of times during the night and take him to go potty. (Be sure it is the same time each night to make it consistent---establish a routine.)

Don't be impatient with potty training, it does take a while. And using the potty compared to indicating his needs is a lot lot easier. During sleeping its even harder to feel, and to wake up when they need to pee. My cousin was 3 with the same problem. We didn't make him wear pull-ups. Before going to bed, we made him go to the bathroom, but he still got wet by mornings.
So I started to set my alarm clock. First I woke up at 6 in the morning, checked him, he was wet. next day it was 5o clock, wet again.Within 2 weeks, I figured it out that he usually gets wet between 2- and 2:30, so I started to wake him up around 1:30-1:45 and while he was half asleep we went to the bathroom, he used it, and didn't get wet the rest of the night. I woke him up for a couple of weeks, and he started to wake up alone, when he felt he needed to go..
It might sound long, and boring, and very inconvenient for the parents..but you need to give him a little help, plus you will have a potty trained child.
PS: neurological problems(jealousy, fear, insecurity), can also result in bed wetting, but not in 3 year-olds.If you cant resolve by the age of 5-6, think about this possibility.

pull-ups at night are ok. but not during the day. over 90% of 3 year olds wet the bed. wait a few years. if he is still wetting the bed at age 8 then take him to a doctor.

Pull ups are a great option for you. Your son will not stop wetting at night time until his body is ready & that could be another 12months or even longer. Dont stress, just save yourself a middle of the night mess - stick with the pull ups. My son is 4 in March & still in pullups & so are my friends boys & girls at the same age.

personally, I hate the idea of pull ups. Simply because they're diapers, no matter what their ads say.

However, I think they're okay at night, until your little one can wake up dry. That's a hard feat to accomplish for a lot of little people. It takes longer to realize you have to tinkle at night, while you're asleep, than it does to know when you're awake. You can also invest in a padded, or waterproof, mattress cover. That way night time accidents are easier to clean up.

Good luck, he'll get it down soon.

My son is 2 1/2 and I'm at the same point. I'm opting for no pull ups and I am now waking up EARLY in the a.m. (usually) around 4 is best and I take him to the bathroom. He's not so tired that he refuses to go (and he usually has to go around that time versus midnight where he would just cry b/c he didn't have to go). He's also just tired enuf to *sometimes* go back to sleep. But early rising makes for a nice afternoon nap, so it's working for me (lol)!

But I guess we can't rush them, 2 - 3 years old is early for them to be dry all night. Come back and post what worked for you! :)
