i wouldn't recommend pass plus to anyone it is expensive and doesn't always bring your premium down. i have one and it cost me £120 and it has never helped at all i would have benefited more by putting the £120 towards the premium its self

Its probably a con.
Years ago my local group of I.A.M. (Institute of Advanced Motorists) ran a advertising campaign which I took them up on. I eventually passed my Advanced Driving Test as I was told it would get me cheaper car insurance.

When my insurance was up for renewal I phoned lots of places for quotes and most didn't offer any discounts for being an advanced driver and the few that did had higher base premiums anyway and only offered small discounts so I didn't save any money anyway.

Pass Plus can get you cheaper insurance, but the main reason for doing it it to gain more driving experience in different driving conditions to make you a safer driver, and in North wales the local authority will pay towards the cost(some can claim the full amount), I am sure other areas in the country do something similar.

I'd avoid pass plus unless you feel you need the extra lessons.

Some insurers offer a discount with this but they're the most expensive ones to start with.

It helps with cheaper insurance i think for any new driver, although it has to be taken within a year of passing your test.

you can only gain a discount with pass plus if it is your first 2 years on the road.

i looked at the benefits and it would reduce my insurance by 17 pence !!!! .... really worth spending £100 or more to do ?

as another person said, the companys who offer discounts for pass plus are usually massively overpriced anyway

pass plus help, new drivers get cheaper car insurance, it takes off where your driving test left off.

however if you wish to go further and get more money off your car insurance why not do the advanced driving course. the web site address is www.iam.org.uk

Apparently so. Although it does talk about 'young drivers' the emphasis is on NEW drivers without reference to age. Web site is here: http://www.geocities.com/cbchameleon/pass.html
