I mean, wouldn't God have the glory either way? Does God need humans to give him anything?

god has self-esteem issues, so he needs all the glory he can get his hands on to help his fragile ego.
Am I right or am I right?

When we say we give God the glory we mean just that; we acknowledge that we glorify God for the blessings that he gives us. You're right in saying that God doesn't NEED us to give Him anything but we still choose to give Him the glory in the interest of giving credit where credit is due.

Like Armygal said, it's about acknowledging that without God we wouldn't be able to do those things, but that with Him, as it says in Phillipians 4:13, we can do all things.

how can giving Glory to anything other than yourself be misinterpeted as over inflated sense of self? that person is saying I do not take the credit for that, weather it is God or somone else they are directing the praise to. They are pointing away from themselves. And as far God goes we do need to give Him one thing and that is our love just as He has loved us.

I think when Christians say, "I give all glory to God", it is a way for them to worship God and acknowledge that he didn't achieve something on his own or by his own knowledge. It quotes in Proverbs 3:5, "trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean Not on your own understanding; in all ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight."

IMO...I think it's a statement that all good is in the Glory of God. Without God there is no glory.

If we take the glory then we are saying we did it on our own. When we say God did it or helped us to do it. Then we are being humble, and showing others that God is in control. When we puff ourselves up then we make ourselves god.

Of course, these things are all about publicity even if she doesnt realise it herself, her managers will be behind her rubbing their hands together. If she really wanted to make a real difference, lets see her donate £1million into building new youth hostels and volunteer as a worker in them a day or two a month, but of course, she so busy and cant spare the cash, she only has £20million, she cant spare much(!)

I give HIM myself
Does HE need Me? NO, but HE wants me to be with HIM.
If I give HIM the glory for something, it is because HE has done it- either through me or through someone else.
I am SURE not going to give any man glory for what GOD has done.

As a grateful person we acknowledge GOD
for WHO HE IS and WHAT HE HAS DONE.
GOD loves us so much, even HE doesn't need us,HE wants us to communicate with HIM and HE commanded us to love HIM with all of our hearts, souls, minds and strength!
A person who truly knows GOD can't help but to glorify HIS NAME at all times!Glory to GOD in the HIGHEST!

God doesn't need us all, He is completely content without us, existing in harmony in the mystery of the Trinity.

If your wife made a delicious stew and you took it to work and everyone ate it and enjoyed and said to you, hey man, nice stew, wouldn't it be appropriate to mention the stew's creator?

The point of Christianity is to humble yourself, it's to say to God, I can't do it, I want you to be the Lord of my life, I'm tired of doing it my way...
How you can claim that is having an over-inflated sense of self is beyond me...

Depends. If they are doing it to impress then yes. But if they are doing it to remind others that they are not good but it is God in them who is good then it is right. But if you meant as in worshiping then it is more an affirmation that God is Great and a way of saying all good things come from Him.
