Taking all this into account, with the fact that the first things we learnt to do when we "evolved" were to actually kill each other.
The tomahawk pre-dates agriculture.

So are we destined to annihilate each other?

I see man being the downfall of man. Whether it be in war, or just the way we neglect our enviroment. As you said, that's what we've always done. One of the first things the homo-sapiens did was kill the neanderthals. Mankind will eventually come to an end, billions and billions of years from now our sun will explode destroying our solar system, I really doubt we'll still be in existence by then, so one way or the other we're coming to an end.

Take a moment and go study your history. The reality is that the world of today is a lot LESS violent then the world of even one hundred years ago. The tomahawk was a tool before it was a weapon. It was used in the construction of shelter and for hunting. This is because we came from hunter/gatherer societies before we developed agriculture.

You talk about the English hate the French, Germans, etc, but before the "English" hated these groups they hated the Welsh, Irish, and Scots. Before they were English there were savage bloody feuds between all sorts of different groups. Normans, Saxons, Gaels, the list goes on and on. Somehow despite all of that you became English and now you hate other national groups. All of those smaller groups became assimilated to the point that they can live (relatively) peacefully within a larger group. Do you recognize the trend right before your eyes? What will you be tomorrow? Will it become Europeans against Asians. Earth against Mars? Humans against Aliens? Milky Way Galaxy against Andromeda Galaxy?

Even modern history shows a general decline in violent conflict world wide. The reason that these "atrocities" gain so much media coverage is because they are not common practice anymore. Compare the kill rates of recent conflicts against those of prior wars. There were battles in Word War One where more people died in a single day then all of the deaths, on both sides, in the entire liberation of Kuwait. Relatively speaking it was not that long ago, that the whole "rape, pillage, and plunder" of defeated enemies was standard operating procedure. There was a time when Roman Catholic Popes encouraged the genocide of pagan minorities. Look at some of the things the Romans did during their time as dominant world power. Look at the depredations of the Goths, the Huns, the Sioux, the French, or the Germans - to name but a few. No culture or civilization in human history is without a few skeletons in their closets but the nations of today have a lot fewer of them then those of our ancestors. Is violence still prevalent in the world? Yes, it is. Are there periods of intense conflict interspersed with cycles of peace? Yes and with each cycle the periods of stability and peace get longer and more widespread. Will there be a day at some point in the future when humanity finally gets its collective act together and we stop trying to kill each other? On a national level I would say yes although individual people will always come into conflict with others. Is that point in the near future? Probably not but that doesn't mean it isn't getting closer.

Wait a minute...

We don't hate England, Canada, or Viet Nam. We don't hate Iraq or Iran.

I'm also not aware of the English hating the Americans, either. Does that mean I can't eat chow with my British counterpart tonight like I usually do?

I can say that we all have a considerable lack of respect for France, though....

We won't kill each other. We just clean the gene pool every thousand years or so...

Until there is world peace established there will always be conflicting societies, peoples and races. We are all unique individual human beings and some like to prove that their differences are better thus creating turmoil. Annihhilate each other, not necessarily. We just need to learn how to get along the right way.

I don't hate england, canada or vietnam. I rather enjoy the british, i am friends with many british soldiers after having served with them in iraq. I have been to canada several times and enjoyed myself, except in french canada. I know some vietnamese people, and they are alright with me, i wanted to marry a girl who is vietnamese. I wasn't aware that england hates america, but i guess you know. I believe we are destined to destroy each other, but you already have it figured, so i will just live, keep on l-i-v-i-n, thats what i say.

Not at all. I think youre assuming a lot to make a statement like that. Even with the continued and escalating violence in the middle east they havent destroyed eachother and wont any time soon.

We are not destined to destroy each other, just whoever makes the finest mechanized killing machines will eliminate "excess feeders" when the time comes, but the winners will write the history books and savor in their accomplishments.

Not alot of Love coming from your question. Just don't focus on the negative. there are many good things going on that are never mentioned. Our creator will be in charge of our annihilation and not man.
