Except for military amd police personnel, sporting weapons (shotguns, rifles for target practice and "hunting" (US; in the UK that means hunting with horses and dogs, and that's a separate issue between and among the country people, the animal/fox rghts people and the politicians) and "shooting" (UK)) are the only kinds that may be kept in the UK.
This has caused grief for amateur pistol target shooting contestants who must practice abroad.
I understand an exception was made for the actual Olympic competition but not for the UK team's practice: they must go to Ireland or France. Or elsewhere.

0.22 calibre rifles when used on a closed range under licence. Shot guns - providing you hold a valid licence, do not alter the length of the barrel, have a locked metal case which is secured to an immovable object in your house and are prepared to be inspected by the Police without notice and at any time. 'Sawn off' is definitely illegal, as are Hand guns - check out last month's UK FHM, there is a small bit in there about guns.

A gun license is required in UK if you are keeping arms (weapons). The most commonly owned gun is a shot-gun, usually in rural (country) areas. Getting a gun license in a UK city may prove difficult but may be allowed if you belong to a gun club where they have a secure armoury and your rifle or hand-gun is locked away, kept at the club.
Possibly the best source of information on keeping guns in UK are your local police.

no longer precisely confident what you advise through weapons yet for any weapon i'm confident there are various human beings or companies who're allowed to own them. occasion- automated rilfes or maybe in all probability genades ( a minimum of of a few types) could be possed through officers of the regulation. unlawful knives could be owned through a similar besides as creditors and handicaped human beings sometimes. And governments can purchase something they please. in case you manufacture a weapon for the purpose of merchandising it i'm confident you could own it as long as you have the required licenses and stick to required regulations.

None unless you are licenced. Anyone who carries a weapon be it gun or knife without a licence should get 10 years prison.
