If your replacing food with water you ARE starving yourself. Your body needs fuel. Fuel comes from food, calories, vitamins and sugar. Drink water WITH food, but dont replace food with water. You may be tricking your mind into thinking your getting full off of water but you arent tricking body. Your body needs calories, and your body needs to burn calories, if you arent taking in calories you arent burning either and then of course you arent losing weight. The weight you do happen to lose from starving yourself will only come back on when you start eating normally again.

The best way to lose weight is by a proper diet and exercise.

If your drinking water instead of soda's.. sure. Water will make you feel less hungry if you drink it before meals.. but you still need to eat the foods to sustain a healthy body.. Eating less and getting more exercise will help you lose weight the healthy way. Fad diets are not the answer to long term weight loss.

You have to eat. Eat consistently and healthily. Water can help control cravings in between meals though. Actually this is rather funny, but a scientific study a few years ago showed 30% of Americans don't know the difference between thirst pains and hunger pains. It is a partial explanation of why we eat so much.
