Not yet. However, CNN reported that the military would soon exchange a rapid U.S. citizenship to foreign citizens in exchange for military service. I cannot find the link, but I promise you this is true.

I hope that allowing illegals is NOT the next step. It may just be me, but I think that American soldiers should be American.

Yes. You do not have to be a citizen of the United States to serve in the United States Armed Forces. However there is a requirement for the individual to obtain citizenship prior to completing 8 years of service. This process is stream lined for those who have enlisted. If you recall there was an Army soldier who was killed in Iraq that had been granted citizenship posthumously after his remains were returned it was discovered that he was a citizen of Trinidad

Probably not, but I can't imagine why. They want all these extra soldiers, and troops are already serving extended and multiple tours and reserve divisions are being called up everywhere, they ought to take what they can get. Already they hire mercenaries like Blackwater, Aegis and KBR to add to the force in Iraq. Why not out-and-out recruit foreigners?

I'd go see a recruiter. I've met people that were not citizens in the USAF. I think they were from territories of the US.
