Well, every thing has been working fine as it should it being a Sony product and a costly one at that, until - well, two days ago; the camcoder displayed a yellow tape-like sign flashing and flahing and then, voila, stopped working just like that; the Menu, P-menu as well as Exit or Close (X) functions would not budge even after I pushed the reset button. I was caught by surpise. I was unprepared for this. I thought this is it! I am shooting a movie at last! With those first-time actors and actresses who kindly volunteer to make my dream (of becoming a filmmaker (and perhaps their own of becoming celebrities someday) come true having to endure the necessary making-up and costuming and all that for nothing, it made me mad.Can anybody help me restore my HC1 camcoder? For your information, not all functions are lost.I still can record and play back. The most impotant functions are Main-menu and P-menu. Thank you, guys!

Take it back to where you brought it. You say your purchase was 'recent' which would imply to me it's still under warranty. Don't muck around with anything yourself in case you void that warranty. In the UK (if you are here) remember that it is the retailer who must deal with faults - they cannot palm you off by saying go to the manufacturer. An item must be 'fit for purpose' under The Sale of Goods Act and that, in fact, overrides any manufacturers warranty.
