It is not because of something they ever did. I think it all started because they are a minority, and in medevial times it was very difficult for Christians to respect a non-Christian minority that was different in some ways, the majority (I mean Christians) was ignorant and intolerant. Jews were seen as peculiar, different and then were libeled in many ways. Over the centuries these libels have grown to a whole "belief system" of myths, stereotypes and even the weirdest conspiracy theories. It also plays a role that Jews were and are often quite successful and this made and makes people who already dislike them more angry. And they were and are useful as scapegoats for everyone who wants to divert attention from his own problems, this is what happened in Europe and is happening in Muslim countries now to a great extent.
You see the only reason that people hate Jews for are stereotypes and libels. I got to know a guy who really hates Jews very much, and what for? "Because they are responsible for every evil in the world" - such nonsense statements are the "reason".

European (including Russian) anti-semitism is based in a few texts from early church leaders like John Chrysostom who were anxious to get their followers to abandon Judaism altogether.
The historical pattern (well documented if you care to actually look) is that each wave of anti-semitism goes back to an early generation of lies and declares them to be true. Like Hitler drew on death-bed writings of a very crotchety Martin Luther that have since been denounced by the Lutheran Church.
Jews have made convenient scapegoats throughout history. Wee things like rulers employing them as tax collectors -- which means they got the people's ire rather than the king.
It's basically a very long history of lies and gross distortions that are used to colour and misrepresent everything that Jews do.
Check out Norman Cohn's _Warrant for Genocide_ for greater depth to this question.

I don't really know if jews are hated any more than any other group. Can that really be shown? I mean, we atheists are the kings of being hated! :)
Anyway, I suppose some people dislike jews because:
- thought by some to be responsible for killing fellow jew jesus.
- thought by nazis and others to be racially impure (I've alwasy thought this must have stemmed from jealousy that European jews tended to be so successful in their lives and careers: scholars, intellectuals, scientists, business leaders, etc.)
- thought by some to be imperialist invaders of territory in the middle east.

Oh where do I begin?
In Germany, they began to control practically the whole country. And Germany's economy was disastrous. Therefore the Germans began to dislike them, and all was blamed on them. There rose Hitler.
Then, Jews practically OWN America. From actors, to anchorman, to high profit company CEO's. They're everywhere, and it seems as if Jews have a higher chance to receive high working class jobs then anyone else. The economy is dropping in America thanks to them. Don't beleive me? Send me an email and I'll give you a list of all the Jews who work at such jobs in America.
And, look at the war with Lebonnon and Israel. Who started it? Jews. This war has been going on for years. It stopped, then began again.
Did you know billions of dollars go to Israel from America? Hm...
They're also beleived to be one of the most intelligent races around. Yes that's right, because they help each other. Other races, and I've noticed this don't prove me wrong, sometimes get sad when they're siblings or family members marries a different race. Jews don't care, they MAKE that other person become a Jew. That's what makes the race going even though they are decreasing rapidly. If your religion is Jewish, you're automatically a Jew race wise or not.
There probably is more reasons, but let's stick it to that for now. Fair enough?

This is what I heard, once. Don't know if it's true or not. That there is something in the Bible that related to Christians that said you can't charge high interest rates to another person. So they didn't. And the Jews did, many many years ago. And that's why all the bankers now, and then, are Jews. So they became rich. And when you're rich, aint nobody like you!

I don't hate Jews & don't understand why so many people do. Europe has had a long history of anti-Semitism & Hitler fed on it. It wasn't all that hard to get people to act against them.
Anti-Semitism is increasing again in Europe & I asked this question of the English & the one Briton who answered my question denied it. My source re the increase has been a couple of articles in the paper as well as a lengthy Time article.

For the same reason the bastard offspring wants to murder it's parent. Judaism is the parent of monotheism Christianity was formed of it. Islam arrived on the scene some 600 years later using both Judaism, and Christianity as models.

Who hates the Jews?
Christians worship the Jews as sons of their God.
Ask the Jew and he will tell you he is Yahuud but he enjoys the worship associated with "Jews".
You will not find Jews in the Old Testament of the Bible because "Jews" form part of the Hoax of the Bible and the Hoax of the Crucifixion of "Jesus" who was or were nothing more than two thieves who were set up by Pontius Pilate in the Crucifixion Hoax.
Judah's tribe was one of the Twelve Tribes of Israel but tribalism ceased with leadership of Moses and they all became known as Yahuudi or Penitents.
None of the Children of Israel alive today are able to trace their roots to any of the Twelve tribes. They are all Yahuudi and those who followed Isa al masih became known as Nazara or helpers, called Nazarenes in the Gospels.

Hatred towards Jews comes mainly from Christians. Some Christians hold the belief that Jews are Christ-killers and that they are basically unenlightened Christians.
