K-9 their very good guard dogs and they are kid friendly, but if you want a strict guard dog. Don't let him or her get friendly with anybody that does'nt live with you. O and their very smart so it will be easy for you to train him or her, personally get a girl dog.

A barking breed - I have a Norwegian Elkhound though she's a family pet - not a guard dog. But these dogs bark !!!!!
You want a dog with some size and one that will bark.
Actually, 2 dogs are best - one can be handled by someone breaking into your home. Very few will challenge 2 dogs or more..
A word of warning though: Don't get a barking breed if you don't live in a dog-friendly neighborhood. A lot of people don't like barking.
To me , barking dogs keep the neighborhood safe - the more , the merrier..

because of the fact which you're asking this question, i'm assuming which you're no longer an experienced canine proprietor. to that end you're superb getting an grownup canine that has already had some practise and isn't any longer overly rambunctious around the youngsters. vacationing your close by SPCA periodically may well be an dazzling thank you to locate a canine that exhibits each and every of the characteristics which you're in seek of. some provide help to sign up your needs and that they are going to touch you while something is provided in which would be suitable. In my section lots of the canine on no account make it onto their website as they're observed out via human beings such as you which ones are waiting for a particular type of canine. Getting a domestic dog calls for a great number of paintings and it is character is slightly unpredictable till you're experienced at examining the state-of-the-paintings symptoms, no rely what the owner says. the better and extra aggressive the canine, the extra matured the instructor needs to be, quite while there'll be little ones in contact. there's a great boost in canine (no longer doggies) obtainable now because of the financial equipment - human beings merely won't be in a position to locate the money for the vet charges or are compelled to sell their properties and pass into residences. If somebody is advertising their canine privately i could insist on speaking with the canine's contemporary vet (to be sure you're no longer getting a ill canine) and spending a minimum of an hour with the canine interior the canine homestead (the place it isn't any longer under pressure already) and spot the way it reacts to human beings coming to the door, reacts to little ones, etc. There are some great web pages that might actually assist you opt for a bred which would be a stable commencing factor because of the fact that they have faith approximately how plenty paintings you're arranged to do (on an familiar basis strolling, grooming, etc.). One final word, do no longer low value a breed because of the fact it would not seem ferocious; a collie or a poodle (with the suited hair decrease) would be stable at guarding. desire this helps.

I am sort of bias, but I think your best bet would be a german shepherd. They are wonderful guard dogs naturally. They do require a lot of time and attention however, it is well worth it. Our gsd is 6 months old and is very protective. He can be dead asleep and if he hears the slightest noise, he jumps up, ears go up and he checks around the house. Many times when my husband would come home from work at like 5 or 6 am, the dog would be waiting for him at the door before he even turned the knob.

Go to your local Animal Shelter and adopt a homeless dog. Try to find a dog that is a german shepard mix they are good watch dogs or a doberman or maybe a bulldog mix. I have a black lab and dalmation mix and she barks at everything. She also would attack any body that tried to hurt me.

my brother in law is a security guard and he has a rottweiler. Its a fantastic dog, it loves him and his wife, but if anyone else goes there they have to call first so he can come out and 'introduce' them! (if they try to get in the gate... well i dont know what would happen, no one has been stupid enough yet!) but he comes out and opens the gate for them and the dog will stop and settle down. Awesome dog, and loves its family

Get an Akita their very friendly with family and friends and very loyal and protective of them! They know when someone isnt a friend
But be warned they are the ' dont mess with me ' breed and dont bark often so may attack without warning.
Here is a picture of one:
