I personally would love to know god exists. I would ask him to have a good long conversation about his logic before he sends me to [where good people should go]...

Let me put it this way: I would love to find out that god did actually exist.

But you all forget... it doesn't matter if he exists or not, as he will send you to hell even if you believe in the wrong religion.

Yes, it is a lottery to get into heaven and the probability is.. 1 in as many religions as have been imagines.

No. Bertrand Russell once said, `If I ever enter heaven's gates and speak to god, I shall simply say "You didn't give me enough proof. Experience is the root of knowledge"`.

I refuse to believe in a religion that falsely holds a `lake of fire` as their torture for anyone who doesn't join them. I refuse to believe in any religion which contradicts itself, and finally, which religion to choose anyway? There are so many, no loving god can expect you to end up in the wrong one.

I will never follow a mainstream religion because they are full of contradictions, people use them to back up their viewpoint subjectively (hey, hang on, isn't god's word objective?!) and you can never know just what is and isn't true even if you adopt that framework of beliefs. My faith is in science and philosophy.

Not really. The thing is, just as you are solidly reassured of you're belief, so am I. I have no doubt in my mind God does not exist. I base this on reasons I feel are more concrete than any other belief adn that evidence gives me all the comfort I need when people ask me if I'm afraid God exists. While it's true that if the concept of Heaven and Hell did exist I would be in not such a good way, I'd be much worse off blindly following a belief that I didn't have my haert into. I think God or Jesus or Allah or whoever it is up there (if any) would judge a person not on if they in there life believed in their teachings but rather if they were good, decent people. So rather than drug user who was Christian getting in, I think I would because I lead a life that is morally cleaner than most. So no, if there is a God out there, I'm still not afraid. I think with or without God, I am better prepared for whatever happens to us when we die than msot people.

Afraid? Not in the slightest.

I too would love for there to be a nice, loving, fatherly or motherly God out there that cares about me and loves me.

I'd also like to eat ice cream and chocolate every day all day long and never gain an ounce.

Nice ideas don't become reality just for being nice ideas. Ah well... back to carrot sticks, whole wheat, and white meat.

Well, I'm a weak atheist. I'm open to the possibility of there being a god. So let's say I die and I discover he's real I will just say to him "Well why didn't you show yourself to me and proved you existed? don't blame me for not believing!" then maybe he'd realize i have a valid point and sends me to a heaven LOL

If He appears, and right before he sends me to Hell, I'd just say:
"O Snap."
But no, at the moment I'm not afraid of the possibility that I'm wrong.

I am not an atheists. Having read your question, I want to point out to you that If you have respect for the one that created all living things, that you may give some thought to writing "god", with a capitol G.
By the way, out of curiosity, I went to my Bible, to figure out His gender. Here is what I read in the story of creation. If you would like to read it , you can find it in Genesis1:verse 4. " God was please with what he saw."
Genesis1, chapter 4.
So now we know.

I hope that God exists, just so I can spit in his eye and tell him to take my scroll of deeds, roll it really tight and shove it so far up his *** that he blows out his almighty o-ring.
