Every time I pet her, or touch her paws or arms, she has to constantly clean herself afterwards. Not all cats do this constant to the max like she does! What does it mean? I don't think she likes me.
hmmmmph! **turning my nose up at the cat** Am I being to paranoid?

I have a cat - it is a free loader! It just comes home to eat!
It doesn't acknowledge me or my family one bit!!!
When you catch it to pet it, she constantly looks around the room for an escape route and looks us in the eye like she is about to kill us ...
We think she is bipolar, maybe your cat has the same problem!!!!

I read a silly theory in a cat book that actually makes sense...
Cats are instinctively always in their hunting mode. That's part of the reason that they're always cleaning themselves...to minimize their scent so they can more easily sneak up on the mouse, rat, or in my cats' cases...pieces of bark and my wife's pet chickens.
Anyway, when you pet the cat, whether you want to admit it or not, you've contaminated the cat's hygiene...given her some human smell...that doesn't go over too big in the stalking business.
So she's simply deodorizing herself.

If your cat is relatively new, she's probally trying to get used to you. Try peting her under her chin and behind her ears, that always wins my cat over.
Sometimes you have to "ignore" some cats for them to pay attention. Sit in a chair in the same room your cat is in and read a magazine, maybe your cat will eventually come to you and try to get your attention.

Actually, yes. You are being paranoid.
All cats do that.
She's actually trying to get a sense of what you taste and smell like so she can remember you better. It's a good thing. It means you're important to her and she wants to make sure she recognizes you in the future. It's how they get acquainted with humans.

Most cats will groom themselves after play. Also, are you by any chance using a lotion or hand cream? Cats are very sensitive to the smell of stearic acid that is in most such preparations, and will clean themselves to get rid of it.

THAT is why I like dogs, LOL! But seriously, it could be just nothing, since cats like to clean themselves constantly anyways.

Perhaps your cat has an obsessive compulsive disorder. Animals can be insane, just like people. I wouldn't take it personally.

The cat probably saw you go to the restroom and saw you did not wash your hands afterwords. Smart cat.

My cat does the same, I just think she is having one of her "moods" again.
