There will always be war!. Always have and always will be.

A World War wont happen in our lifetimes cause technology has brought the world much closer together. Nuclear weapons create a situation of Mutually assured desctruction. Also Post WWII Orgs like UN and NATO were built to stop a growing threat before it gets out of control. (i.e. Hitler)
Also the world is so Interconnected thru commerce and technology.

The wars of the future will be regional small conflicts and involve non state organizations. Real question is when someone if going to blow up a nuke bomb??

There is already a major war involving the middle east but with the increasing concern over climate change think people will wake up to the fact that there are more important concerns in the world than fighting wars. Hope to see a reversal where we are all working together to solve our common problem.

No! I am sure that there is no more any world war. Why? Because today people become more intelligent, they don't want to die, they want better lives with more comfortable, happier, richer...etc. And of course they don't want to waste money.

Today some local wars in the world may cause deads, but almost people remains in the world still live in peace.

Anyway, just remember the song "Imagine" of John Lennon, then you will find out the way that it is.

JR is absolutely right. There hasn't been a day of "official peace" where no countries are at war since the 40's.

It's not quite as bad as he said, but as much as I hate to admit it, the US is more of the problem now than the solution.

Here's a list of ongoing conflicts world wide.

We already have WW3!
If, on a world map, you paint in red every country where there is a war (including the countries that are involved in a war, somewhere [i.e. no war IN USA, but USA is involved]), you will have a World map nearly all in red!
Except, maybe, switzerland.
The only difference with WW2 is that "we" have not used atominc bombs... yet.
