What do you think He was doing in the three days between his death and ressurection?

When Jesus died on the cross, He really did die. That really is the same as saying that He went to hades, because hades is the realm of the dead. However, while Jesus was dying, He promised to take the thief on the cross into Paradise. So the historic teaching of the Church is that when Jesus went to hades, He established a special waiting room for His own, called Paradise. He preached to the spirits who were already dead and took the Old Testament saints into Paradise also, along with the thief on the cross.

Jesus was not necesarily dead for exactly 3 days. so It may have been a little shorter, not much. And as for what he was doing, he was setting the captives free. Sharing the gospel to all the dead, to give them a chance of life eternal.

God Bless

The New Testament (1 Peter, specifically) says that He went to "preach to the spirits in prison."

This "prison" was a purgatory-like spiritual state known as the "limbo of the fathers" -- the spiritual abode for those who died before Christ's time, and who were waiting for His death and resurrection to open Heaven to them.

He was in Paradise with the Father. Do you remember what He told the thief beside Him on the cross?

"Today you will be with me in Paradise"

He certainly was NOT down in Hell fighting the Devil, that is a blasphemous idea and is not found in the Bible.

Praying he wouldn't become a martyr and no religion would be based on his name, then twisted to suit common man. That, or he and Judas were playing poker.
