Break down the words....

A (as in Asexual or Amoral) means "No". "the" in "theism" means a God. "ism" is a belief. So Atheism is the belief in no God. Atheists assert that no sort of God or supernatural beings exist.

Agnostic. A means "No" again. Gnostic means "knowledge". So agnostic means that one doesn't have the knowledge to say that one religion is right over another. Agnostics say there is no way to say whether there are Gods or not.

In short:
Atheism: Belief there is no God.
Agnosticism: Belief that there is not enough knowledge to determine whether or not a God exists.

A dictionary would help you. Etymologically speaking, agnostic is without knowledge and atheist is without gods. I am both. I understand we cannot rigorously prove any fact, but I also reserve the right to take a well-educated guess.

also check out the difference between difference and deference.

once you're maximum suitable that atheists are on shaky floor in the event that they declare absolute information that gods do not exist, you do not understand what agnosticism means. I regularly locate that theists think of atheists say an excellent variety of issues whilst actual we don't. and an excellent variety of of them have a confusing time understanding the version between a loss of perception and a perception. in spite of. We shop attempting and in line with risk sometime they are going to comprehend that is not that complicated. yet specific, making the declare that there is not any god might open us as much as the grievance we lob at theists. we'd take on the burden of having to coach what we claimed, and that i don't think of we can. lower back to definitions. Atheism and agnosticism are actually not mutually unique - the former describes one's perception: a theist believes in a god, an atheist has no such perception. information is something else, and that is defined with a/gnosticism. in case you have information that god exists (as detrimental to easily believing he does) then you fairly're a gnostic. you have not any information of him (like, i might argue, every person in the international) then you fairly are agnostic. Like maximum atheists i'm an agnostic atheist.

Agnostic is a person who is open to a religion (mainly christianity) upon solid factual proof being presented. They are the ones who generally believe that there is no way to know what really happens after death, so they do not bother advocating any religion..

Atheists are people who believe there is absolutely no proof of any religion, and that when people die, they just die.. They largely follow scientific methods of evolution and big bang theories..

I am both.

Agnosticism is a stance on knowledge, and says that the existence of a god or gods is not and/or cannot be known.

Atheism and theism are about belief. Both an atheist and a theist can have the stance that the existence of a god or gods cannot be known, and is not known... and can then either believe anyway, or not believe until there is evidence of such a being.

To me, agnosticism is a layer of "not sure" superimposed over a layer of belief or disbelief.

An agnostic is an atheist wannabe that doesn't have the guts to admit that religion is all hocus-pocus faery tales for fear of eternal damnation by "god" or being ridiculed by society for not believing. In my experience, most agnostics really tend towards non-believers.

An atheist says dogmatically that there is no God. An agnostic is either saying that he doesn't know whether ther is a God(a soft agnostic) or that you can't know whether there is a God(a hard agnostic).

according to Dr. Richards Dawkins new book, 'the God delusion' available in all athiest bookshops, and some other commercially viable ones.....

an agnostic is someone who is unsure about a God/Gods with exactly 50/50 probabiliy. (50% likely of God/Gods exist, 50% that is is fiction).

an athiest, who is anywhere on the scale of 50.000000etc0001% to 100% certain that God DOES not exist.

thiest=believer in God,
a = not/without
athiest =without belief in God.

Personnally, my opinion is that athiests are only those who are almost certain God does not exist. I perfer to use scientific standard error, 95% confidence intervals. Anyone more than 95[.0etc1]% confident God does NOT exist is Athiest in my opinion.
(so + 95% confident is athiest)

You just have to believe me about the +95% cut off, it requires faith. Followers of 'Darkins', take the +50% percent cut off, and you take his word as dogma.

My followers will smite him and his kind though.

Agnostic pretty much means you don't believe there is a god and you don't believe there isn't (dictionary defines it as somebody who believes that it is impossible to know whether or not God exists). The easiest way for me to think of it is you don't believe either way because you can't prove that god does or doesn't exist. (I personally am agnostic)

Atheist don't believe that god exist.

An agnostic knows that he doesn't know anything about if there is a god. An atheist thinks he knows there is no god and is as arrogant about it as the religious who think they know there is one and what newspaper he or she reads
