The jet stream is staying further north right now, bringing warm southern air up here and keeping the cold arctic air away. It won't last, but enjoy our low heating bills while we can. I personally think it's great.

It's not just Montreal. It is the entire northern hemisphere with exception of the western 1/4 of north America (which is average, although the storms have been severe). Little or no snow and record warmth elsewhere - Toronto, James Bay, Labrador, Oslo, Helsinki, the Alps, Moscow, you name it!
