Tons of food, whether or not the food was healthy before it became food, doesn't seem to be the right metaphor.
But seriously, one good way is to do a job that takes a lot of movements, preferably walking. And it would pay.
A lot of jobs involve standing or sitting in one place, and while you might be busy you probably aren't burning calories.
The problem is that man was designed to walk. A LOT. His stomach was designed and his appetite was designed to eat a large amount of lower calorie foods, because (speaking as an experienced hunter) vegetables are easier to catch than meat.
When man stopped having to walk long distances or do very strenuous work, on the average at least., in order to get those calories, and more high calorie foods started creeping into our diet, our stomach size and the urge to keep it as full as possible didn't magically go away.
For the exercise a hobby or better yet a paying job that involves moving your legs a lot (the paycheck is the very best incentive for regular exercise) to keep you motivated.
For the food, since you are on limited funds (join the club friend, join the cruel old nasty club) some of the best foods and the lowest calories happen to be the cheapest. Don't buy stuff that is already made. You pay more for convenience, in the immediate sense, and pay for it in the long run as well.
Go to the Y or some place similar, a senior center or community center or the parks and recreations in your town, will usually have a low cost exercise program, tae kwon do is excellent for the amount of calories burned, better aerobics than you will get at the gym, and costs less than the gym too.
They will also have cooking classes, and that is a payoff and a half.
If you know how to cook, eating healthy foods is a lot cheaper than eating the "convenience" foods.
Ride a bicycle to the classes, it will save you a lot of money, your car insurance rates will go down, and you do something positive for the environment and you aren't encouraging going over to other countries and kiling people to take their oil.
All this will make you feel good about yourself which is the third leg of that tripod.
Exercise and diet aren't the whole story, you have to do it in a way that shows you how good you actually are.
Otherwise you will find yourself sitting in the corner of a darkened room eating peanut butter straight from the jar with a spoon and feeling sorry for yourself.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.
Get started today!

TONs of healthy food is just as bad as TONS of junk food. Ya wana get fresh fruit and veggies and fresh meat and whole grain breads. Eat a really balanced diet and for exercise you can jog in place, do jumping jacks, sit-ups, or just walk for 30 minutes each day. It doesn't cost money to lose weight if you use common sense. There is no miracle foods in the store, and no miracle exercises at a gym. Being healthy is free to those who are smart.

Dude, U don't need all that expense to leave a 'weighty' life. Spare all that money and use a fraction of it to buy the increasingly popular Hoodia for weight losers. The one I currently use is FDA-approved in the US unlike the cheap, fake stuff people are selling around for a buck or two. (Well, U get what U pay for). They even offer a money-back guarantee for it incase u are not satisfied, pretty good for doubting Thomases. Want to read news and reviews about it? Go below...

On the other hand, think about this: better food costs more, therefore you can afford less, which helps *losing* weight because you would eat less calories....
that's another way healthy food helps losing weight you know.

Make sure you don't sacrifice potassium for calories. If there's not enough potassium in the diet the liver will run out of glycogen between meals causing blood sugar to drop between meals.
Go to http://actualcures.com/index.html#12 , wait for the page to load and it will automatically take you to the section on potassium and drop in blood sugar.

Substitute walking where you would use the car. Start with short distances like to the post office or the bank and eventually widen your radius.
