I think meditation is both calming and spiritual.

Some think meditation opens up channels to spiritual energy. Yoga is about opening chakras, and chakras are entry points of spiritual energy or Chi, if I have that right.

That and yoga is great for exercising the body.

Can't hurt to try it.

You have to wonder about the kind of meditation where you have to clear your mind of all thought and focus on some nonsense phrase or visualize colors in your mind. What is the point?

If the goal of your meditation is to commune with God, know this - there is only one way to God and that way is through Jesus Christ. Jesus opens the door for you to have a deep and intimate relationship with the creator of the universe. You don't have to do a million exercises and sharpen your mind and make yourself better in order to communicate with God. He hears you already and he loves you like a father. Please read the gospels, learn who Jesus is and why he was born firsthand. Read what Jesus said about himself.

I practiced meditation in high school and it really messed me up for years. I never knew peace with God until I entrusted my life and my soul to Jesus Christ.

Monitor yourself as you meditate - do you find yourself changing into something that you don't like anymore? Do you find yourself losing touch with who you are? God created you a unique and beautiful being, he doesn't want you to become nothing, but to become the person he created you to be!

Meditation has nothing to do with spirituality. It is a calming practice that soothes the mind and body.

I got taught a good one. What you do is, lie down somewhere comfortable, cover you ears with your thumbs, your eyes with your pointing fingers, push your nostrils together with your middle fingers, and cover your mouth with your ring fingers. then totally relax yourself, and remove your rite middle fingers of your rite nostril, and breath in as slowly as you can all the way. Then cover that nostril and remove your left middle finger of your left nostril, and exhale as slowly as you can. Be sure to pause for a couple of seconds in-between each in and out breath. count each in breath as one and each out as another. Do this twenty to forty breaths, then remove your hands open your eyes and lye there for a few minutes, noticing the effect.

Happy relaxing, from Dinah.
