On this planet is one constant amount of water. If there is a lot of water on one place, there is less water on another place. But the amount of water on earth is a constant one.
Could it be true that this same concept can be applied to religion? That our planet has one constant amount of faith? Is the reason we have religious fundamentalists, because there are atheists like me?

religion is all crap...it was the ancient and ignorant ways of explaining our existence and also proved quite useful for controlling the masses...however I do believe there is something beyond this life and your analogy of water is very close to what I believe...that every soul is like water and God is like the ocean and we are in the river heading for God...and eventually when the time comes like the rain we leave the ocean and end up coming back to the earth and eventually we are in the river again heading for God....religion is not required to believe in a supreme power...actually religion will only keep you further away.

actually religions could be likened to sources of water. there could be some contaminated even poisoned, but for sure there's also a pure source. people spiritually drink from these sources so depends on where they take water, they could be spiritually sick or healthy.
If you found out your water source is poisoned what would you do? =)
