I am in Poland and wants to invite a friend for holiday in Poland. A letter supporting his application for a visiting letter is required,Who at the embassy should the letter be addressed to? Is there any difference between High commisioner and Ambassador? I will be glad if anybody can help me out.

Actually, it is the councilor. That is the person who is responsible for the issuance of visas etc. You can also simply address it to the counselor section of the Polish Embassy, that should make life easier. Anyway, do not worry about such details, just make sure a copy is available during the visit to the embassy.
