A natural remedy is usually Melatonin or Valarien. But, you have said that you have taken the over the counter medications so I am assuming you have tried these. Just be aware it may take several weeks to a month to see any result at all from these meds. But also make sure your diet stays consistent. try to stay away from sugar and caffeine any time in the afternoon. Try to stay as stress free as possible. Maybe do some breathing exercises or yoga. Good Luck

-Calcium. Natural calcium found in foods ,can help you relax and sleep well all night.
Calcium from some over the counter supplements, can expose you to a toxic level of lead.
Particularly stay away from a well known brand called ...
Caltrate.
Other natural remedies that may help.. are,
Lavender- good for insomnia- I use lavender oil before going to bed. It can be over powering in fragrance if you use too much. Place it on your chest or shoulders prior to going to bed.
Lemon Balm- for insomnia
Valerian - for insomnia
Melatonin- Works best for me along with the lavender.
If you continue to have trouble sleeping for longer than 3 week, see your Medical Doctor. There can be MANY reasons for this problem you are having. Anxiety, depression, Stress.....

Being a new year, i have had the annoying sleepless nights from last year worries bundled up with this years tasks ahead and so on. I've found that changing a few night time habits has helped, no more food binging, snacking and cold drinks before i go to bed.
Do you find yourself stressed due to bills, work and on going worries? to say the least among other things unko?
I'm learning to ease my mind by thinking upon good, positive thoughts. Finding ways to unload the stress, tell yourself you can do this, You are going to be fine, and where there is a will there is a way.
Make this year a better year for you, by starting each day on the right foot, bum up. head held high and an awsum attitude.
Feeling good about yourself is a good start to a good nights sleep, and surrounding yourself with natural vibes.

A nice, gentle, slow stretch from head to toe should relax you physically. Roll your head around, shrug your shoulders, lean forward and just hang over for a minute...do what feels good to you and take your time.

If you find your mind's racing, try writing your thoughts down in a journal or talking to a trusted friend just before bed.

Lastly, if this insomnia lasts for longer than a couple of weeks, it's time to see a doc. Plenty of physical problems can mess with your sleep, so it's important to get all that stuff ruled out.

Ha! I have the same problem. I just made some hot tea and that helps me out. Or warm milk. Also if you warm a hot pack and have it sit on your shoulders it will help relax your muscles which can help you fall asleep. I also had an eye cover that helped me block out the light in my room and that actually really worked because now I can't find the frickin thing and now I'm having troubles falling asleep because now the light bugs me. good luck!

Chamomille (dog fennel in English or manzanilla in spanish) tea works well for me.
Quit watching Nightmare on Elm street marathons.

If all else fails do meditation to find out if something in your mind is keeping you from sleep.
Sleep is good, if you don't sleep you wind up looking at a glowing screen at 2 o'clock on a Saturday morning.

actually it will make you crazy but don't tell just anybody, just keep it our little secret ok?

Exercise. About an hour before you go to bed hit the treadmill for 2.5 miles or so. If no treadmill available, walk about 2.5 miles. If that isn't an option do push ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, etc.

Rather than rely on your bodies internal clock to tell you when to sleep, manipulate it by exercising and making yourself tired.
