Hey guys, I turned on my video camera and took some pictures of my skateboard

I turned my camera off, took out my SD card and put it into my laptop card reader.

About 5 minutes later I picked up my camera (which was off) and the battery pack (which has 2 AA's) was BOILING! and the camera was hot!
I immediatly opened the power box and took the 2 AA's out, they were SO HOT i couldnt hold them for 5 seconds without burning myself, it felt like they were going to explode in my hand

Can anyone please explain why this happened? They are new AA Kodak Alkaline batteries that came with the camera

I would take your camera to a repair shop. What you are describing is a short circuit. The batteries got hot because they were 'shorted', that is, a direct connection to ground. You were quite lucky to notice them before they overheated and burst open, spilling corrosive chemicals inside your camera.

your batteries have some how got the + and - connected to the case in which they were holded and due to circuit connection the power got discharged and got tranformed into heat and thats the reason your battery pack & the batteries became so hot that you could not hold it. Check the battery box and see if any metal parts are having contact with the positive and negative sides of the battery. Hope this answers your question. All the best.
