Have you been paying your taxes? Have you avoided a criminal record? If the answer to both is yes, see an immigration attorney. Do not go to the USCIS first! Their job is to apply the law as it is written and they are going to favor those who are completely legitimate. An attorney will present your case in the most favorable light.
Becoming a legal resident puts you on the path to citizenship. That is worth its weight in gold. the USA is still the best country in the world in so many ways and the only way to play a full part in it is to pledge allegiance and become a citizen.

Alright, your children would not have their citizenship taken away from them, thats something they got by birth. Would advise you talk to some immigration lawyer/public advocate who deals with immigration cases and there should be websites that lists them in your area. Now, since you have a social security no. and own a business would advise you apply to the USCIS for a change of status but you would wanna be careful because their would be details about ur present status and how u got into the country. Like mentioned earlier you really should talk to an immigration lawyer, based on how long you've been here on ur present status, try applying for ur wife at the same time being that both of you are in the same status means you get processed together. Also be careful, having been here that long and deciding to apply now posts a risk, not sure what the reasons are but hoping it works out for the best. It's actually better to have it cleared urself than otherwise, heard on the news before of a man who has been here for years and even served in the military but after they discovered a glitch in his status they tried deporting him so have to compliment you on taking this huge step. If anything about deportation arises but hopefully that doesn't come up you have to try to establish the fact that you have children here and a business to support urself and family. Look up more on these websites and try to find more info

Hopefully this is of some help and don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any more questions or concerns, and if something else comes up. Good Luck.

First off, your children are already citizens of the USA. The reason for the social security number is so you can work legally. To get your citizenship you have to take a test (good luck). Go to your nearest city hall and inquire about the test. As for the children being deported, I don't know.

You broke this country's law to enter this country. You are a criminal! The length of time you spend commenting a crime does not absolve you from the crime!
On what insane grounds do you think America should reward you for criminal action?
If I rob the bank, build a school for the mentally retarded with the money, when they finally catch me do you think that they will say,
"Oh, he is a nice person, he built a school with the money that he stole from the bank. So don't put him in jail! .
