You're not alone because anti-depressants don't work for at least 40% of depressed people.
You could try the new anti-depressant called Emsam. It's a patch that you put on your skin and change once daily. It's like a little square of scotch tape.
What makes it different is that it works by a different mechanism that all the other anti-depressants commonly prescribed. It is an MAO inhibitor. It also has the highest compliance rate of any antidepressant according to published trials (meaning that not as many people dropped out due to side effects as with most other anti-depressants).
You might want to give it a try. Just remember that a fair trial for an anti-depressant is considered six weeks.

I have 2 cousins who are bipolar. One is an adolescent boy(10yrs) and the other is a young adult woman(his mom-25). They both have different symptoms and yet some are alike. Paranoia and also a desire for attention is one symptom. The youth is schizophrenic and they both are kleptomaniacs. They both also have tendencies to act out sexually. The mom is very afraid of large groups of people and so is her son. The medicine causes them both to go into a shell and seclude themselves. They both also act out aggressively at times. Love and affection is sometimes rejected because they are skeptical of it, but when it is accepted, they are like soft cuddly puppies. So loveable

most tell-tale symptoms are times when you are very talkative and have a great deal more energy than usual. People will say that your personality changes drastically to be more animated than usual.
