Well if he was smoking when you met him that's probably gonna come out when you try asking him not to smoke in your presence. Just outta curiosity why would you choose somebody who smokes if you don't like it?

My boyfriend smokes and I have asthma, so he tries not to smoke around me (unless we're in the car, but he rolls the windows down so the smoke doesn't bother me). Honestly, it's all about him. He can choose to quit if he wants to, but he's going to have to work for it. Don't pick at him over this one little thing. Sure, it's going to hurt him in the long run, but that's still his decision, not yours. If you're definitely going to spend a lot of time with this person, at least set some basic rules that you're both comfortable with. You could ask him to quit, say it really bothers you, maybe you worry about his health, but don't nag him about it and make him feel guilty because it will only make the situation worse and put a strain on the relationship.

If you want to date someone who smokes do nothing. If you don't want to date someone that smokes end things. Keep it simple.

Right ON!

what do you mean? do you want him to quit? if so you have no control over that its all up to him and if he really wants to quit. i am a smoking and i know if you want to quit then you have to really want it mentally, i would leave him alone cuz the more you pressure him the more he will smoke. just tell him you don't like it and let him know you would like him to quit but don't keep nagging him about it cuz i know it wont happen then,

Accept him for who he is, warts and all..........If you truly care about his health, then address your concerns, but don't attempt to try or make him stop. Maybe with some strong support, understanding and patience, he will come around to seeing the bad affects that it will have on his health in the long run.

I smoke, my girlfriend doesn't.
It's her birhtday in eleven days and I've told her that I'll quit by then.
I don't want her kissing an ashtray
