A Lab is a Lab..color doesn't have a thing to do with attitude or anything else.
There are just as many "psyco" yellows as there are chocolates or blacks and there are just as many mellow Chocolates as there are yellows.

lol I've heard that before. Black Labs are thought to be the original breed color with something changed to get the other colors. Whatever they used to get Chocolate caused some problems!
Edit: There are only three colors: Black, Yellow, and Chocolate. And the reason that Labs get a bad rap about being crazy is from BYB's that breed crappy dogs. Meet a show Labrador and you'll have to hang on tight to your heart.

I own 2 labs myself. One is a 2 yr old female black lab that weighs 82 lbs and the other is 4 yr old male yellow lab that weighs 112 lbs. The black lab is very aggressive and is more protective of us and the property. My yellow lab is just a big cuddly baby. Maybe it has something to do with thier names. My black lab is Christine and the yellow is Jake! LOL

Chocolate labs are defiantely more similar to meth abusers than you're average family pet. Still, yellow labs are relatively crazy. I think it's jsut sort of the nature of the breed. It all has to do with the original breeders. I would assume they have small genetic differences in them from being bred slightly differently and one of those differences is the level of craziness.

I would have to agree with bladedogs! I have a chocolate lab who had been through the training circuit. Instead of putting her in shows she has gone on to work in search and rescue. That's how she uses that extra energy! However, as a pet, all I need to do is let her catch me with a tennis ball. That is where the crazed side of her comes out! Just get to know one who gets a lot of attention and you will lose your heart.

I think all labs are a little nutty. I have a black lab and I have never had a dog like her. She is 4 yrs old and still hyper. But she is so loyal. If anyone tried to hurt me she would probably attack them. Labs just need alot of exerscise. And alot of love and attention. They are great dogs. My dog thinks she is my mother. She is the alpha for sure. But they make great pets.

Oh, trust me. Yellow labs are just as psycho. (I have one, and he's only almost 10 months old.) I've been told over and over again to read the book "Marley and Me".

Black labs are the smartest. the yellow are next, the chocolate labs I think are a mixture of both. the only problem is they didn't get the brains of either one, it is almost as if they are a inbred

I think pretty much all labs are like that. My neighbors have a black lab and a brown one (not chocolate, the other kind) and they both bark like crazy whenever they see a person. The black one likes attention so he barks because he's lonely and he hopes you'll pay attention to him. The brown one's scary though.
