I still can't figure it out. My 13 year old son has the dryest skin on his entire body, and I went to a dermontologist and she said he just needs to keep lotion on his body. I got him this new nivea body lotion which is very thick and I told him he must use it on his entire body after his bath. I slather his back down since he cant get to it and his back has improved, but the rest of his body is still the same very rough.

I found that the lotion bottle is still almost full and he says he uses it but he does not. one day I caught him pumping the lotion into the toilet and that day I SLATHERED his body with lotion after his bath that day to give him a message this is what it will be like.

I asked him if he wanted to go to the store and pick his own lotion, but he said no, and I also said that girls dont like guys with bad skin. I tried almost everything, what am i supposed to do!?

and his dry skin is too bad to be ignored!

Tell him that if he doesn't start taking care of his skin, then it will crack and be very painful. Then get on the internet and show him medical exam pictures of severly dry skin.

Maybe he thinks only girls need to use lotion. Or take him back to the dermatologist and have them explain what will happen if the dry skin worsens.

Do you have a male friend or a "father" figure who can take him out to the drug store and buy him a "manly" type of creme.

I feel the more you force the issue, the more he will resist you!

Neutrogena has an excellent skin regimn, from head to toe.

I would buy 3 lotion options.
Leave them in his room........and leave him alone.
Using girls not liking him, in this day in age, maybe he doesn't want girls to like him......and that is not helping him telling him that anyway!

Have some Uncle or some male he respects take him out, do a "guy day" and do a sport, shower, and groom themselves. Ya know what I mean? He doesn't want to be a wussy and put lotion on like a woman, if he sees a man do it, then he will realize it's normal and he's not a freak!

Just give him some space, and options.
Tell him you are not going to police him anymore and that there are now 3 lotions for him to use or NOT!

It is his body, and if he's gonna rebell, sounds like he's doing you in with his skin.

Choose your battles carefully.
When you really need him to listen, you will wish it was just his skin!

Don't sweat it, he can figure it out.
he's getting SOOOO Much NEGATIVE attention by what he is doiong now!!! (MOM) try giving him some space and 3 lotion options, or let him try his own lotion, pick it out himself, something in a men's line... i searched and listed a couple in source.
Think of it from his male perspective...not a mom! i'm an aunt 48

perhaps use a lotion with a scent that he likes?

otherwise, reduce number of baths. baths often dry the skin out even more. take short, warm tepid showers. pat dry, and moisturize after that.

or you can consider using bath oil, and other moisturizing bath and shower products, so as not to dry the skin too much.
