sit ups build your ab muscles under your skin, but it doesn't get rid of belly fat. but building muscle helps you burn more calories

you have to lose fat all over your body in order to start losing belly fat. unfortunately belly fat is one of the last places fat is lost. cardio is good, since it works the whole body.

hi there, sit ups do help for the definition and toning under the fat - but diet is the major player in whether you see your abs or not. so take a look at what you eat in a day, you need to create a negative calorie balance, in other words - what you take in should be less that what you are working off. eat 6 small meals in a day with supper made up of only proteins and vegetables, cardiovascular exercises like swimming and running for about 20-30min per day also help burn calories. but unfortunately sit ups alone won't do the trick, they will however help keep the abs looking fab underneath , you have to have all the pieces of the puzzle! good luck and listen to your body!

Hey there!! Cardio (running, cycling, stepping) helps to get the flat stomach while sit ups define your abs... at least that's what the girly magazines say...
