being a "god" is a temptation best avoided. It would be to achieve above-human attributes, while the very nature of being human dictates that we grown and learn as well as rise and fall. To strive for godhood would be a lesson in futility, i believe. It appeals only to the arrogance and pride of the evil. And evil, is by definition, misguided.

Create a universe or make a living species from scratch. I think that would be a good start.
Oh, wait - you said "simple" ... hmmm ... ok, make a seed from scratch, and have it grow and self propagate to many.
