If God is capable of creating a perfect earth, then why didn't he do it the first time?

According to the Bible, God will create a new Heaven and Earth. But if God is the God of Love, then why would he put us through the last few thousand years? I know that many Christians will respond by saying to test our worthiness of salvation. But he refers to us as sons and daughters, I would never put my children through such pain, suffering, guilt and judgement. Why set us up in the first place, when he would know the outcome?

Woops, I apologise for misleading anyone into thinking I was doubting my faith, actually i don't believe in God. My question is a hypothetical one, I was just curious on the Christian perspective.

"God of love", you obviously skipped over the old testament. He's not always the God of love.

You're assuming that the word, "new" means another. We don't know this. That's why biblical scholars constantly question the various perceptions of the bible.

I've have always felt that possibly the Earth we live on are one in the same. Could it be that that Heaven is this Earth without any evil?

Is your question why didn't God just start mankind out in heaven, rather then the Earthly world we live in currently? You're right, as Christians we must prove our worthiness. Were we faithful?

Many Christians believe that if we have accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior, we will be rewarded with life in heaven. They don;t believe that we are in any way rewarded on our merit. I disagree with this. God set fourth rules to live by and I believe we will be penalized or rewarded as how we live or life here on this Earth. Is it possible that there are different heavens and depending on your merits here on God's Earth, it will eventually determine as to which heaven we will spend eternity in?

I put my children through pain. I spank them when they get out of line. In hopes that they will grow up respectable, faithful adults. Many times painful lessons are part of a parent's love for their children.

He did create a perfect earth. He also gave men free will. When the non-believers are destroyed, the new earth will be completed and cleansed. The earth was perfect in the days of Adam, but after Adam and Eve's sin - specifically Adam's fault, the earth and animals were not friendly. This will all change in the future.

Only God knows this, yet I'll attempt an answer. This Earth is where we will be divided from those that should move on and those that will be left behind. Just as Lucifer turned on him, life on Earth is his way of protecting Heaven for us and himself so that we may all live together peacefully without the presence of evil. The pain on Earth comes with the fact that this place is not perfect and satan also crawls through it.. it is not really God's doing but he remains here to guide us and welcome us home when the time comes.

Good question. You are really concerned about the dismayed condition of the world. However, the Bible claims it was a perfect world until the fall of the first parents. They disobeyed God's instruction not to eat the fruit of the tree which can tell good from evil. Anyway, it will take a whole life to explain to you why. Imagine, if you will, knowing all the pain and suffering and misery capable of existing. Now, imagine taking all that possibility away from your children. What have you created? You have left them choices which are not truly choices because you have taken away any alternative.
