Im pagan and celebrate christmas/Yule in Winter. Which in the southern hemisphere is June.

christmas has a christmas tree in it. Pagans also have a yule tree.

Winter/yule is celebrated because its all about the coming new light and the sun growing stronger.

Jesus is supposedly born and this is also the new light.

Stars are a part of pagan celebrations. The three wise men followed a star to get to jesus.

I hope that helps.

I'm Christian and you are right. Christmas is a pagan holiday. The Christmas tree is pagan. I don't remember the book of the Bible it's in, but in the OT it talks about going into the woods, cutting down a tree, attaching boards to the bottom, putting it in your house and decorating it with silver and gold. It says not to do this because it is something the heathens do. The greenery at Christmas is a fertility sign. And, um, Santa Claus is not real, so it has nothing to do with Christians or God either. The encyclopedias are full of information about the origins of Christmas if you want to find out more.

The tree, the feast, the carols (the concept of them - the words have changed), mistletoe, colored decorations, burning a yule log, exchanging gifts. I think everything except commemoration of the nativity is pagan in origin.
