He licked some chocolate pudding out of a bowl, maybe up to 1/4 a tsp.

He just ate it, I've confined him to a carrier, should I take him up to the vets ASAP?

HELP!

E-mail me at st.nbs.jimmy@hotmail.com if it's information that's vital.

You needn't worry - just make sure he doesn't have access to chocolate any more. Most cats I know love chocolate and would always try to get some. It's definitely not healthy but small quantity as that you mentioned wouldn't do any harm.

One of my tomcats would climb up onto the top shelf where I used to keep chocolate bars, he would make a total, really incredible mess on the way up but get a bar, then tear the wrapper, eat most of it and play with the remains all over the carpet in the living room... A healthy little devil he was, anyway. He would find the chocolate no matter how well I hid it.
Now he lives with one of my best friends who doesn't like chocolate and never has any at home. Despite that, they are getting on really well :)

if a cat ate a small portion of chocolate pudding...i think it would be okay.. but if its a large portion then it can be poisonaous to animals.

if its only a tspn then u shouldnt worry so much because it probably wudnt affect the cat that much.. but if the cat acts weirdly after consuming the chocolate then go to the vet immediately. check the pulse of the cat to see whether r not it has become irregular because consumption of chocolate may cause the heart to beat faster then normal. chocolates contains theobromine which is a diuretic as well as a cardiac stimulant. depending on the type of chocolate u have, dark chocolate contains more theobromine than milk chocolate so it creates a greater risk for the animal.

don't worry so much and observe the animal to see if there is any irregular movements in the animal.

i hope this helps you.

It seems that alot of people out there have been fed advice which leaves them paranoid in relation to what their pets each. Other animals, I don't know much about but cats I do. Your cat's fine. Dispite the fact we get told over and over again about how bad human food is for cats, a little bit does not harm them unless they have some predisposed condition. It's only when you get into the habit of feeding them things regularly that you may have a problem. Milk is an example. If you want to feed your cats milk, buy cat milk. Cats are lactose intolerant which means if you feed them normal milk, the lactose can build up in their systems and eventually make them sick. It does not mean that a cat licking a bit of ice cream off your finger is going to get sick.

It's great that you're so concerned about your cat but fear not, 1/4 tspn of chocolate pudding wont make him sick. He'll just think it was something to eat. Cats can't taste sweetness either so he's not going to become addicted to sweet things either. He will have just liked the fact it was dairy.

Your cat will be fine. The worst that'll happen with that amount of chocolate is that the cat throws up. Cats and dogs are especially allergic to baker's chocolate (the strong full or nearly-full strength cocoa ones you get in the aisle near the pie filling at the grocery store...). Your cat will be fine. Just be more careful in the future.

Your cat will be fine. There is no reason to worry, small amounts of milk chocolate are fine. There is only a need for concern if your cat consumed more than 3 M & M sized pieces of dark bakers chocolate. Dont worry your cat will be ok.

No way is 1/4 tsp going to do any harm. The only harm is that the cat might crave chocolate and someday might find a large quantity of it and eat all of it. If that happens, you might have a problem, so don't let it happen.

It's nothing to worry about my dog had chocolate a few days ago and he's fine. I'm sure the same affect is also with cats.

No, nothing will happen. My cat loves chocolate and most other junk food and will do anything to get at it. The only side effect he might have is loose motion, and only if he eats a whole lot.

Alright darlin', there's nothing to worry about... ;xD My dog ate a whole box of chocolate one time and nothing happened, I'm sure your cat will be fine... just give it a lot of cold water to drink and make sure it behaves normally...
